Apartheid Wall in Palestine: Voices and Echoes

Poem by STIAAN VAN DER MERWE

Dr. Stiaan van der Merwe is from South Africa. He had been involved in the South African churches’ struggle against apartheid and helped found a number of organisations and forums including Transparency South Africa, national chapter of Transparency International. He participated in the PfL Interfaith Peace Pilgrimage and Solidarity Visit to Palestine-Israel held on 4-13 November 2007.

7 Dec 2007

Just a one liner to say that I recently had the honour of visiting Palestine. What an experience?! I was challenged to write something on my most profound experience: the wall. Nope not the wailing wall in Jerusalem. The “border” between Palestine and Israel.

This is my response to that challenge.

Thank you Peace for Life for the opportunity provided to me.

Stiaan van der Merwe
