Workshop on the Adoption
of the People’s Charter on Peace for Life
2008 NOVEMBER 9-12 | HWACHEON, KOREA
Background
During the past five years there have been five workshops to draft the People’s Charter on Peace for Life. The participants have been world renowned persons who are committed intellectuals and peace movement leaders as well as religious leaders.
The final draft of the Charter was made last year. And now it is time to adopt the document by individuals, groups and communities as well as movements which are committed to the cause of peace in this changing world, ridden by wars and violence.
Objective and Agenda
- To have a global assembly to initiate the process of the adoption of the charter.
- To spell out the implication of the Charter, which is regarded as a new discourse on peace.
- To chart the course of the follow-up of the Charter such as Peace Pedagogy, Peace Institute and Peace Foundation
